Love Yourself First!
As Valentine's day approaches, it has me reminiscing on the Valentines of the past. When I was growing up, my Mom became a widow and refrained from dating to grieve. And she would lament every Valentine's Day. The women in her life encouraged her to move on and to date. She remained alone many years but did eventually find a really good man. They dated for 10 years. From an early age, I noticed, everyone didn't have a valentine on Valentine's day. Most of the women I knew in my community were single Mothers. They took care of each other. I would often notice the sadness in each Woman's eyes as my Mother received flowers at work on Valentine's day. They would hide their true emotions behind a natural appreciation for flowers, but i noticed. My Mom would leave the flowers at work so the women could all enjoy. But, after my Mother's break up, she went back to feeling lonely on Valentine's Day. At the age of 25~ I vowed to be her forever Valentine. Now, it matters none whether she is single or in a relationship, I send her a card, flowers, or phone her just to say Happy Valentine's Day Mom; because I know it makes her happy. In her single widowed years, I saw my mom become her own valentine and she showed me how to love myself without the assistance of a man. I am forever grateful. I am single by choice so February is self love month for me. I'm my own valentine. Should I receive a valentine, I wouldn't mind, but not having one isn't gonna make nor break me. In my journey into self empowerment, I have learned a few things or two about self love that I have shared with my mom. Combined with the ways she taught me, I came up with a list of 11 powerful acts of self love that we live by. I share them with you today in the hopes it will resonate. Happy Self Love month!
11 Powerful Acts of Self Love
1. While standing in the mirror, hug yourself, kiss yourself on the shoulders, and say, "I love you!
You can not offer someone something you do not have. Self love is crucial to develop so you can give from the overflow!
2.Know your whole self, your emotions, mind, body, soul, shadow self, likes and dislikes.
One step at a time. One experience after the other. One tool learned and mastered before we move on to the next. Learn to move thru your fears and excitements.
3. Embrace your gifts/talents, share them with the world.
What do you crave to do? What makes you happy? What would you do everyday of your life even if you were never paid for it? If you had to do 1 thing and 1 thing only for the rest of your life, what would it be? DO THIS!
4. Touch every part of your body and thank it.

Having gratitude and self forgiveness when addressing parts that are hurting or healing, is crucial in the search for self-awareness. It helps you develop your intuition and recognize the messages of your body long before disease can set in.
5. Live clean.
This means floss and brush your teeth daily, shower regularly, eat clean, get your annual check ups with a doctor, exercise! Stay in your recovery instead of relapse. But on a spiritual level it also means getting real with yourself and being honest in all you do.
6. Live your truth.
Integrity in who you are and what you do will propel you into success on many levels. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Do not be ashamed to share your story, it will inspire others.
7. Let your actions speak louder than your words. Let your energy speak louder than your actions.
It's a choice! You can either be the life of the party or the party pooper without saying a word. We've all experienced this to one degree or another.
8. Set healthy boundaries.

9. Keep your ego in check! Self berating is altering to our chemistry.

10. Release your fears regularly!
The energy of the moon helps us in phases. 2 weeks of releasing 2 weeks of new beginnings. Releasing what no longer serves us makes room for what does. There are many rituals or practices that can help you release. This is what I teach people. Ultimately we want to make it a habit to remain open to receiving something greater than we could have ever imagined for ourselves.
11. Love yourself, even when it seems like no one else does.
You are never a victim always a victor; never powerless always powerful beyond measure. Your body's ability to heal itself is stronger than you have ever been taught to believe. Everyone isn't going to like you nor what you have to offer and it's ok. As long as you love yourself, the people who vibe at your frequency will arrive in divine timing.
